With the introduction of electrical power for industrial use, there was a need to have the same units for all forms of energy. This is the main objective of SI units. The examples presented in this blog illustrate the advantage of SI units for energy conversion calculations.
Another objective of this blog was to illustrate obsolescence due to the paradigm shift in technology. For example, the most expensive mechanical clocks cannot compete with the cheap electronic digital clocks with regard to precision. It has completely changed the design of the clocks. In fact, the introduction of digital technology has revolutionised the world. So, we can expect more changes in future. It is best to accept obsolescence and move forward.
